Colorado Engagement Photos

Heyyy, it's me, Rachel. I'm a Colorado native, AND I love exploring this amazing state.

My favorite summer activity is hiking with my dog Hunter. Neither of us can handle more than 5 or 6 miles. LOL.

In the winter, I enjoy curling up a binging Netflix shows. I also started skiing (mainly greens and, if I'm feeling brave, the occasional blue).

I absolutely love exploring with couples during their Colorado engagement photos! Let's find a beautiful trail, a clear lake, a running river, or some freshly fallen snow. Perfection.

Let's get to know each other and start planning your session :)

Rachel made us feel comfortable so quickly while taking pictures. This made everything so natural! She was so flexible in making sure we got the poses that we wanted while also implementing her own creative touch to our engagement photo session.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY Colorado ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS?

Your engagement photos are meant to showcase you two and your unique personalities! I always first suggest wearing something you are comfortable in. Is jeans and flannel your jam? Then wear it! Are you more formal and want to show that off?! Do it!

When it comes to colors and patterns, I have a few suggestions.

• Avoid large or busy patterns. This can take away from you and the beautiful landscape. Try to find solid colors or smaller patterns.

• Say yes to texture. A little lace, a flowy dress, or even a fuzzy scarf can add a pop of fun to your photos without being overpowering.

• Colors - everyone has a different take on color. I LOVE color; it adds a richness and depth to your photos, but not every color is created equally. I always suggest either neutrals (tan, black, white, light pink or blue) or rich, gem colors (teal, navy blue, burgundy, or maroon). Avoid bright and neon colors because they can be very overpowering in your photos.

• Dress for the weather. Colorado’s weather is unpredictable! In the summer, you can wear your cute, flowy dress, but bring a sweater for the evening as the temperature drops. In the winter, bundle up! Bring lots of layers. We can always strip down, but I want to make sure you are warm and comfy. (PS... your winter coats look adorable in the snowy photos).

• Coordinate, but don’t match perfectly. Try to compliment each other’s outfits with the colors and style, but don’t go all matchy-matchy on me :)

What are some unique engagement photo ideas?

Your engagement photos are meant to showcase YOU! How are you and your love unique?! One way to do this is to bring props! I’ve had couples bring signs, stuffed animals, pets, and even instruments!

Another thing I do to make your photos unique is get to know you and your love story. When I know more about you, I can cater my prompts to you. Do you like swing dancing? Then, I’ll have you dance! Is one of you ticklish? Then, there will be a tickle fight. Do you both have engagement rings? Then, I will have you both show them off!

I can’t wait to help create a fun and unique experience for you guys!

What are some iconic Colorado engagement photos?

When you think of Colorado engagement photos, what do you think of?! MOUNTAINS, of course! Whether you want your engagement photos with a mountain backdrop or you actually want to explore a new trail, let’s create your own iconic engagement photos. Some of my favorite locations are Rocky Mountain National Park and Brainard Lake for the iconic mountain photos!

Where should we get our engagement photos taken?

There are so many great locations in Northern Colorado! I have even made a list of my favorites HERE. I know some other great locations (state parks, natural areas, and even local parks!) that I will share with you as soon as we start planning your session!

What are your engagement photography prices?

How do you help couples feel comfortable during their engagement session?

I get it. Getting in front of a camera can be absolutely terrifying! How will you look? Will it be super awkward?

Let me put your fears to REST. When you get in front of my camera, I will direct you through the whole process. I got your back. My style is candid and authentic with a mix of traditional smiling poses (cuz they are just classic and great for profile pictures). Instead of giving you static poses, I will give you movement based prompts to get you moving and enjoying your time with the love of your life. I may also crack a few jokes to get those authentic laughs.

No more awkward photos - instead it will be a super fun date (with me and my camera as your third wheel).

When will I get my engagement photos back?

You will get a sneak peek within a week of your session and the whole gallery delivered within 3 weeks.

Can I bring my dog?

YES!!! Bringing your dog to your engagement photo session is so much fun! I have photographed many couples and their dogs, and you can see some of my favorites here. Just give me a heads up so I can make sure the location we pick is dog friendly.

Where should I print my photos from?

First off, kudos to you for printing your photos! Printed engagement photos are so special. I highly suggest spending a little extra to order your prints or albums from professional printing companies! The quality is SOOO much better. I offer professional printing through the online gallery I send you, but you are welcome to print them anywhere because you receive a print release with every session.
